“Without Christian worship, there would be no Bible. The Bible is the product  of the early church’s common prayer. The earliest Christian communities circulated among themselves and read in common worship stories of the life and ministry of Jesus and the early apostles. They wanted to hear these stories and respond to them.” [1] This quote gets straight to the heart of an important matter with regard to Christian worship – the place of Scripture within worship. The point is well made. The texts that make up the Scriptures have a history behind them. Each of the ‘books’ that make up the Bible was considered sacred because through them God spoke to his people. It may come as a surprise to some but the Bible did not, as N.T. Wright has so eloquently put it, fall “from the sky in King James Authorised Version, bound in black leather and complete with maps”. [2] That’s a much later development. N.T. Wright "Bloggers Beware"

I read this by N.T. Wright the other day and I thought it was worthy of posting. I'm certainly in agreeance with it, and think I need to consider my own "blogging ethics" as a result... "It really is high time we developed a Christian ethic of blogging. Bad temper is bad temper even in the apparent privacy of your own hard drive, and harsh and unjust words, when released into the wild, rampage around and do real damage. And as for the practice of saying mean and untrue things while hiding behind a pseudonym - well, if I get a letter like that it goes straight in the bin. But the cyberspace equivalents of road-rage don't happen by accident. People who type vicious, angry, slanderous and inaccurate accusations do so because they feel their worldview to be under attack. Yes I do have a pastoral concern for such people... But sometimes worldviews have to be shaken. They may become idolatrous and self-serving. And I fear that that has happened, and continues to hap...
